Sumpter Snowshoe Club

The snow is melting…..

Well folks, it’s been a fun season, kind of short, but not all bad, especially compared to last season!

We were able to get some good hikes in…..and from what I’ve been hearing….most everyone enjoyed the snow this season!

Even though this year’s snowshoe season has come to a close…. you can still enjoy some fun on the trails! Now is the time for the arrival of the geese to the Sumpter Dredge Park…..and since the snow is melting now, you won’t need snowshoes to do some great bird watching at the Dredge!

As the ice melts and spring begins to arrive in the park….you can hike the same trails through the park to see the birds and other animals begin to make their presence known!

We’ll see you when the snow comes again….and if you get new snowshoes for next season, please consider donating your old pair to the Sumpter Snowshoe Club. We would like to start providing snowshoes to visitors right here in Sumpter….we’ll let you know more next season!

I’ll be sharing  photos from this snowshoe season as soon as get them ready!

General Information…….

If you are coming to town for a hike…you can park in front at the main gate, at the post office, or at the Sumpter Museum. Please do not park anywhere along Mill St. because of the State snow plow that comes through on a regular basis.  If you have any questions, you may call 541-894-2359 or send an email to: snowshoe@sumpter.org
