The Sumpter Branch of the Baker County Library was established in 2000 and shares space with the Sumpter Municipal Museum in an historic building that was built at the turn of the century and which survived the fire of 1917 that destroyed 12 city blocks in just three hours! Community Movie Exchange ~ residents can bring in 2 previously viewed movies to exchange with 2 others to take home. Of course, the Sumpter Branch Library has plenty of movies - both DVD and VHS - that you can check out with your Baker County Library Card. Feel free to check out a book or movie at another library branch within Baker County and return it to us in Sumpter -we’ll make sure it gets back to Baker City for you!

Mon-Tues 11-3 pm
Wed 4-7 pm
Thurs-Sat 11-3 pm
There is a Librarian on Duty Wed-Sat
Mon – Tues hours depend on availability of volunteers

The greatest thing about the Sumpter Branch Library is that you can explore the Sumpter Municipal Museum at the same time as your visit to the library! The Sumpter Branch Library is open every day (depending on volunteers) and that means the Sumpter Municipal Museum is open too! And guess what? It’s all free!
Don’t worry if a book you are looking for is not available…..we’ll put it on hold for you!
You can return items after hours by using our convenient night drop box out front. We check it every day and automatically back date your item one day when we check it in.
When you visit the Sumpter Branch Library….we encourage you to take a few moments to browse the Sumpter Municipal Museum on your way out…..when the Sumpter Branch Library is open…the Sumpter Municipal Museum is open!
