Can you believe it…..?

The snow is melting and temperatures are on the rise……and just like last year,  the snowmobile season has gone by faster than a snowmobile running down hill on snow!

This season was better than the last two.”  Neil Bork, SVBMSC President

The final meeting of the Sumpter Valley Blue Mountain Snowmobile Club will be……….

April 13th – 6:30 pm at the Sumpter Community Schoolhouse.

475 N. Mill St. (just above the Stage Stop gas station)

The club will be providing BBQ hamburgers and members are welcome to bring their favorite side dish.  There will be a dessert auction as well. Members will also be electing new officers for the 2013/2014 season.

“The Poker Run was successful, people seemed to have fun…. and the Outhouse Races were a lot of fun too”

 Terry Nordstrom, Poker Run Chairman

If you haven’t seen the Outhouse Races yet….check them out here.

Read the last club newsletter of the season here.

This is the last regular meeting of the 2012/2013 snowmobile season, but the club will still be keeping in touch with members through the summer months with occasional newsletters to keep you informed of club news.

The Grooming Crew will be busy all summer maintaining the Tucker SnoCat Groomer, as well as working on the trails – who needs snow?

Snowmobile Club Groomer on the trails

Did you know that we have 350 miles of groomed snowmobile trails in the Sumpter area? The Sumpter Valley Blue Mountain Snowmobile Club keeps these trails groomed all season – sometimes you may see them on the trail.  Sometimes, the best way to see the “Orange Monster” is to ride with it!

On December 30th I rode with the groomer as it worked over 50 miles of snowmobile trails. That makes for a long day…..but if you don’t have a snowmobile, this is the next best thing!

On this day, Terry Nordstrom was working the #6550 trail, which works it’s way into the #7240 trail, which works it way over to the Elk Feeding Grounds , which you can access by taking the Old Auburn Road just outside of Baker City if you don’t have a snowmobile. On our way home, we worked the #6540 trail in the Deer Creek area, then took the 050 trail, which is just a mile or so of side trail full of twisty turns and bumps. Then we made our way back to the #6550 trail, which brought us back home.

Snowmobile Club Christmas Gift Exchange

The Sumpter Valley Blue Mountain Snowmobile Club held it’s annual Christmas Gift Exchange.  The fun began when club members gathered for a wonderful potluck with favorite donated side dishes that complimented the delicious ham provided by the club.  There was a meeting following the meal….but for some reason – the meeting didn’t last very long (seems like it never does!)

Once the tables dishes were cleared…the real fun began of exchanging Christmas gifts!
